"Artists Who Curate"

Friday September 6th, 7:00pm @ 16 Beaver Street.
(see directions below)

Barnaby Drabble is a curator and critic living in London and Zurich. He has held positions in a variety of galleries, artist-run organizations and museums, and since 1998 his primary interest has been in developing collaborative projects with artists and looking at the potential of applying art processes to non-art contexts. Alongside his individual practice he is now developing projects together with Hinrich Sachs (as Drabble + Sachs). He currently lectures on post-graduate programs and regularly contributes articles to magazines and catalogues.

Gareth James is an artist based in New York. He has found himself displaced from several recent exhibitions by a phantom curator going by the name of Storm van Helsing.

Sheila Pepe is an artist who should be living in New York. Her more recent solo shows have been at Susan Inglett, New York; Colgate University; and the Weatherspoon Art Museum. She has also participated in many group exhibitions including "The Photogenic," ICA, Philadelphia; "Greater New York," P.S.1; and "Gothic," ICA, Boston. She is currently preparing an exhibition for the Educational Alliance on New York's Lower East Side that looks at the work of professional artists alongside the work of their artist mothers.

Gavin Wade is an Artist-Curator based in London. He is the editor of "Curating In The 21st Century" (2000) published by The New Art Gallery Walsall and "In The Midst of Things" (with Nigel Prince) (2000).
